President Vladmir Putin says the new voting system in Russia has been "a great success." The new system - introduced by Mr Putin for last weekend's elections - allows voters to choose their favoured candidate from a row of Matryoshka dolls.

Take your pick: a polling station in Moscow.
Obviously not fair. I went to the Kremlin last Friday, it was closed for public. Soldiers at the gates said, "Top people are there, having some event. The Kremlin announced a state of emergency". We are stepping backwards. The Red Square was closed as well.
But in any case, some wise French man said "Every people deserves its king"

It's getting more and more fashionable here again to have the portrait of Putin on the wall in the office of bureaucrats. And when you enter bookstore "Moskva" in Tverskaya Str. in Moscow you'll be amazed at the quantity and variety of images of the first Russian persona. This is weird, old people say it's just like in Brezhnev's period.
